Cigarette waste as sign of human and environmental danger
Recent research in the US shows that cigarette waste, including that from e-cigarettes, is an important indicator of trends in youth smoking. This is especially critical as youth have been targeted on social media platforms to use e-cigarettes. In addition, new forms of tobacco products have been flavored to appeal to youth and the waste from these products show which flavored products youth prefer. Filters from combustible cigarettes and e-cigarette waste of various types is dangerous to the environment and efforts to ban/limit these kinds of wastes in Thailand is ongoing. As indicated below, calls to eliminate these plastic and chemical/metal wastes are now being made since these wastes are known to be environmentally dangerous.
