Ever-smoking youth who used e-cigarettes “to try to quit using other tobacco products, such as cigarettes,” had lower odds of stopping smoking cigarettes than those who did not use e-cigarettes to try to quit. Physicians, regulators, and educators should discourage youth from attempting to use e-cigarettes to stop smoking cigarettes.”

Comment: Past research suggests that e-cigarettes may reduce (my emphasis) smoking cessation rates, possibly by attracting smokers who want to quit but reducing the likelihood of quitting successfully.
