In this review, the authors conclude that although “the pathophysiological mechanism of e-cigarette damage is not known, a growing body of evidence indicates that e-cigarettes cause lung inflammation and injury as well as systemic adverse effects in multiple organs.” Authors call for “controlled studies to elucidate the pathophysiological mechanism behind the adverse effects of e-cigarettes.”
