“In looking at tobacco through a human rights lens, one can’t help but agree with the Danish Institute of Human Rights: “there can be no doubt that the production and marketing of tobacco is irreconcilable with the human right to health.” There is growing agreement in the tobacco control community that human rights norms demand that we go much further in stopping the tobacco industry. The consensus is evident in the Cape Town Declaration, which paints the way forward.”
