Report shows significant work and health costs from smoking in the UK

Almost all of the relationship between smoking and unemployment is explained by disability, much of which is likely caused by smoking. When you add the cost of tobacco (£1,355) to the impact on earnings (£1,424), our analysis finds the average cost of smoking per individual in the UK is £2,759 per year.
