Hand J. BBC News. How dangerous is vaping – and why the concern over young vapers? 12 Sept 2023, In England:”The campaign group Action on Smoking and Health (Ash) said the proportion of 11 to 17-year-olds who said they have tried vaping has jumped from 13.9% in 2020 to 15.8% in 2022 and then 20.5% in their survey this year (2023).”
Comment: Concern arises because nicotine addiction does not decline when alternative methods of such addiction are promoted to children, and nicotine sellers are determined to use both legal and illegal means to make sure they start kids using nicotine early. The pattern of rapid increases in e-cigarette use (vaping) by youth has resulted in the US, UK, and Australia taking steps to eliminate disposable vapes and institute strong restrictions on the accessibility and use of e-cigarettes. Thailand has banned e-cigarettes as a means of preventing the availability and use of e-cigarettes so there is not an “epidemic of e-cigarette use” by youth and the general public.
