The content of this book is a summary of work performance, including problems, obstacles and suggestions encountered in using the Smoke ? Free Hospital model. Smoke ? Free hospitals were selected based on strong tobacco control performance, capabilities of health professionals, and hospital preparedness in becoming a Smoke ?Free Hospital. The concepts of Smoke ? Free Hospitals are shown below:

  • Encourage the enforcement of Non-Smokers’ Health Protection Act B.E. 2535 (1992).
  • Being a simple model of a Smoke ? Free Hospital with collaboration by all health professionals and hospital staff.
  • Expand Smoke ? Free Hospital performance through community and public health services.
  • Stimulate health professionals to be concerned to improve their capabilities to encourage patients to quit smoking.

With reference to the operation of the Smoke – Free Hospital Model using an integrated method, the campaign of non ? smoking in hospitals is driven from the policy level to the performance level and the development is carried on through involvement of various sectors in the community such as educational institutions, public health services, leaders, public communities, temples and so on. Moreover, the operating performance was integrated with development plans, the 5A Plan, and also devices and processes routinely used in hospitals were also integrated at the same time.
