ASH THAILAND What is an electronic Baraku

Press Release: Information collected by Prof. Dr. Prakit Vateesatokkij, ASH THAILAND What is an electronic Baraku  An electronic Baraku is a new item which allows one to imitate

cigarette smoking. It comes with a length and diameter of 11 cm and 9.5 mm compared to the conventional cigarette of 8.7 cm. and 8 mm.

  • The cover of the electronic Baraku is made of thin metal which has a small plastic cord attached to its battery in order to release aerosols from a synthetic fiber which has fruity smells added. One could characterize this liquid as oil containing various fruit smells. However, these liquid smells have a very strong, pungent odor. Smells when touching these liquids stick to fingers and are very difficult to clean up.
  • One electronic Baraku brand costs 300 baht and contains 5 rolls at 60 baht per roll.
  • English printed on the electronic Baraku indicates: no nicotine, no tar, nocarbon monoxide.
  • Each roll of the electronic Baraku can be smoked up to 400 times if one doesnt run out of its liquid or battery; refilling the liquid or charging the battery is not required. After running out of liquid or battery, it is simply thrown away.
  • How is an electronic Baraku similar or diffident than an electronic cigarette

The working system of the electronic Baraku works like the electronic cigarette does. One of the differences is that the electronic Baraku is discarded at end of use when running out of liquid or battery and is not required to be refilled with liquid or have its battery charged.

The liquid in the electronic cigarette is liquid nicotine having no smell. However, the liquid nicotine in the electronic Baraku has a mild smell caused by adding one or more of 10 20 chemical types, including chemicals making the liquid nicotine to evaporate as vapor while smoking.

  • While smoking the electronic Baraku, the liquid in the Baraku roll is mixed with synthetic fiber. This liquid becomes synthetic chemicals with various fruit smells.
  • The conclusion is that the electronic Baraku and the electronic cigarette have a similar work system; however, the difference is that they use different liquids.
If the liquid used for the electronic Baraku contains nicotine, it can still be called a Tasty Electronic Baraku which is an electronic cigarette added to have various tastes which are mostly fruit tastes.
  • What is the difference of the electronic Baraku compared with the conventional cigarettes

Normal Baraku has ingredients burned to generate smoke while smoking and uses tobacco fermented with fruit molasses and sugar. This Baraku is smoked from a device looking like a vase.
For the electric Baraku, the liquid causing the smoke while smoking consists of synthetic chemicals having various fruity smells, smoked by using a metal tube containing a battery inside.
Both the conventional Baraku and the electronic Baraku claim that no nicotine is included, which may or may not be true.
Does the electronic Baraku contain an addictive drug If the flavored liquid of the electronic Baraku does not contain nicotine, it would not make smokers addicted unless having other addictive drugs.
Is the electronic Baraku dangerous to health

  • Inhaling chemicals into the body is normally dangerous to health.
  • Chemicals used to prepare various fruit smells in the electronic Baraku have not been disclosed for their components. Because the electronic Baraku has not yet legally been authorized and has only recently been released, it cannot be concluded that the electronic Baraku is harmless to health.

When investigating an electronic Baraku and looking at separate components used, one finds that the liquid causing fruity smells in the electronic Baraku has a funky smell when touched, is hard to clean out with water and remains overnight. Thus, it is likely that the chemicals in the steam of the electronic Baraku could persist in the lung of smokers and certainly cause harm to smokers who continually use the product.
Besides, the electronic Baraku is directly dangerous to the trachea and lung. Flavored chemicals in the electronic Baraku may contain substances absorbed into the body through the lungs that could be harmful to organs throughout the body, similar to chemicals produced in conventional cigarette smoking.
The future of the electronic Baraku

  1. Smokers continually smoke the electronic cigarette because it contains nicotine. Smoking the conventional cigarette, Baraku or the electronic cigarette is simply a method to take nicotine, an addictive substance, into the body.
  2. If the electronic Baraku does not contain nicotine, Baraku smoking could be a trend of fashion for a while. When people become concerned that the electronic Baraku is harmful to health, they will quit. For this reason, it is possible that Baraku producers could add nicotine into the electronic Baraku aiming to make smokers addicted, and prevent many smokers from quitting smoking.
  3. How to inform electronic Baraku smokers or initial smokers of the dangers of these devices:
  4. Warn smokers or initial smokers of the electronic Baraku not to believe electronic Baraku sellers who state that smoking electronic Baraku is not harmful.
If one is thinking of trying or is currently smoking an electronic Baraku, show them by open the electronic Baraku and showing its separate components. It reveals the components causing the stream and liquid of the electronic Baraku. This liquid is sticky like oil, has a funky smell, stays for a long time on the fingers when touched and cannot be cleaned by water. Then people can make a decision about whether to smoke or stop smoking the electronic Baraku.

How can we sort out the problem of the electronic Baraku

  1. Provide knowledge of the dangers of the electronic Baraku.
  2. Request relevant departments to analyze substances in the liquid used in the electronic Baraku, including test nicotine substances.
  3. Request to have legal measures adopted to control the electronic Baraku.
