New Report on Tobacco Industry Interference in Asia since 2020 shows interference increasing,India and Thailand had some improvement in preventing interference but overall there is a greater deterioration in measures to control interference in the 18 countries rated on 6 measures. “In comparison with their 2020 scores, five (5) countries marginally improved, four (4) remained unchanged, while nine (9) countries showed deterioration….”

Comment: Conditions like the Covid-19 pandemic provide the tobacco industry an opportunity to influence health policy, sometimes distracting from tobacco control as a major contributor to non-communicable diseases.
