“Results suggest people who vape are using a product whose risks have yet to be fully determined and could be exposing themselves to chemicals with adverse health effects.
Previous studies of e-cigarettes have looked specifically for evidence of the hazardous chemicals found in traditional cigarettes. But here the researchers performed a non-targeted analysis to explore the full range of chemicals both in the vaping liquid and the aerosols.
Researchers identified nearly 2,000 chemicals including three industrial chemicals, a pesticide and two flavorings linked with possible toxic effects and respiratory irritation.”
Comment: Environmental specialists want precautionary testing of any product that is taken into the respiratory system because of the profound acute and long-term effects that may result. This study suggests that claims of limited harm by producers of e-cigarettes are untrue since the full extent and impact of multiple toxic exposures from e-cigarettes are only beginning to be uncovered.
