E-cigarette, Vaping Associated Lung Injury (EVALI) with one or many possible causes?

Vitamin E Acetate Might Be Responsible for Vaping-Associated Lung Injury A November article reporting analysis of lung fluids from patients in 10 states with vaping associated lung injury indicates that vitamin E acetate is the primary constituent responsible for EVALI. See: https://doi.org/10.15585/mmwr.mm6845e2

However, other cases suggest other constituents may also result in lung injury through vaping. One example, is the case of a 49 year-old woman diagnosed with cobalt lung disease from vaping marijuana. See https://erj.ersjournals.com/content/54/6/1901922

Authors of this cobalt study warn that “…this case demonstrates that other insidious toxicities can arise from e-cigarette use. Further studies are needed to determine whether severity of disease relates to duration or extent of exposure.”
