The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is developing standards that will lower nicotine levels in tobacco products. The US Public Health Law Center has developed material for the proposed standard and states, “To be the most protective of public health, the FDA should establish a maximum nicotine standard that is non-addictive. A product standard

that maintains some addiction level, even minimally, will not achieve the maximum benefit to public health.” The Law Center provides materials useful in providing input to an Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM) and urges those wishing a non-addictive nicotine standard to send information to the FDA.
